Why do people have an allergy to walking?

For eons, the human body has developed and perfected our bodily design around the fact that we should be walking, not standing on a two wheeled moving platform. I get how technology, especially in cyberspace, has made life easier but this invention might be going too far. I live in Japan and on large construction sites when workers need to cross the site, you don't see them on two wheeled platforms but on bicycles. Seems to work so why fix legs if they aren't broken?
