If you think that Window draperies is just a mere decorative piece, think again. According to an article on a U.S. Dept. of Energy Website, a drapery has the ability to reduce heat loss and gain depending on several factors.
The University of Florida says that medium-colored draperies with white-plastic backings can reduce heat by up to 33 percent. Draperies on window which are receiving direct sunlight should also be close to prevent heat gain.
